Abstract

Energy partitioning of the CaI product from the Ca + CH3I [1] and Ca + CF3I [2] reactions was studied by laser-induced fluorescence. Product vibrational state distributions were obtained. It was also found that 19% and 16% of the exoergicity resides, respectively, in vibrational and rotational excitations of the CaI product from reaction [1], and 40% and 12%, respectively, from reaction [2]. The results are discussed in the context of various models, and product recoil momentum distributions have been estimated.
