Abstract

The laser-induced etching of ceramic PbTi1−xZrxO3 in a hydrogen atmosphere and in air has been investigated. Visible Ar+ and Kr+ laser radiation was employed in most of the experiments. In H2 atmosphere, regular patterning of the ceramic is possible. Average etch rates reach up to about 250 μm/s.
