Abstract

A laser-free base station scheme that can be integrated with an optical network unit for overlaying the transport of wireless signals in an optical access network is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. It is shown that this scheme has the potential to establish inter-communication among neighbouring base stations to provide simultaneous access to wireless and wired services.
