Abstract

The excitation of flexural waves in a thin plate (film) by harmonically modulated laser radiation and their scattering by small fractal inhomogeneities are considered. An expression for the mean fluctuation intensity for the scattered wave field is obtained. A relationship between the intensity, parameters of the laser radiation and the plate, and the fractal dimension of inhomogeneities is found. The expected frequency dependence of the flexural wave attenuation in the plate due to their scattering by fractal inhomogeneities is discussed.
