Abstract

The divertor operation for density control and impurity suppression is one of the key issues of ITER. In order to evaluate the divertor operation, local measurements of atomic hydrogen densities are very important. Also, atomic helium densities must be measured, because the divertor should exhaust the helium ash produced by D-T burning. In this paper, we propose laser diagnostic techniques for local measurements of hydrogen and helium atoms in a divertor region.
