Abstract
AbstractLasers reliably cut and weld body panels and gearbox components in the automobile industry. They repair turbine blades in the aircraft industry with laser deposition welding and generate customized and lightened components for the space industry using the laser powder bed fusion process. Short pulse lasers are contributing greatly in the electronics industry to the miniaturization of new devices through their drilling, cutting or structuring capabilities. In summary: the laser is an all‐round tool that has established itself in the most varied of industries.
