Abstract
En las vertientes occidentales del centro y norte, y en algunos valles interandinos, en una faja de sierra entre los 800 y 300 metros de altura se encuentra dos enfermedades trasmitidas por Phlebotomus, la Verruga peruana y la Uta. El paludismo de los valles bajos sube hasta los 1800 metros en las vertientes occidentales y a más altura en los valles interandinos. El tifus exantemático epidémico de las partes altas de la sierra baja hasta alturas no determinadas todavía, sin llegar al desierto costanero.
