Abstract

The coexistence of social diversity in Spain has led to a situation of socio-economic inequality. This situation prompted the first Compensatory Educational Centers to originate from the Spanish educational system in the 1960s, whose purpose is to support the socio-educational insclusion of students. The main aim of this research is related to the possible association between socio-economic differences and a higher rate of school failure, taking into account the difficulties arising from the Covid-19 situation as ICTs have been established as the main means of communication. The objective of this study is to bring to light the use of ICT resources as a means of communication in the educational field made by the families of the Andalusian Compensatory Educational Centers, and to contrast them with the use by normative families. The sample comprises students and families from the already mentioned schools of the 2nd cycle of Early Childhood Education. To do this, the access to digital devices, the frequency with which they use the educational platforms iPasen / iSéneca, Classroom, or other alternative routes, and their purposes are analyzed. The information is compiled through questionnaires elaborated ad hoc for the research, where the main results point out specific differences between both populations regarding the access and use of the several digital resources. Finally, it can be concluded that the socio-economic level can be considered a determining factor in the communication between the family and the school.
