Abstract

The obligations of the carrier under the charter agreement are analysed accord- ing to the current Spanish Shipping Act 14/2014, of July 24. The aim is to demonstrate that this recent Act has clear historical bases that would lead to a common European framework in maritime agreements, if national policies were developed in this sense. We examine the most relevant historical texts to support this hypothesis.
