Abstract

The perceptions of being a woman in Chile and the socio cultural changes have been developing steadily since the advent of modern and contemporary society. With some individual resistances and collective transgressions, from colonial times and later from the independence until today, the Chilean women have been struggling specific as well as general battles to gain access to social and political equality, and for recognition of the difference between sexes as a social contribution and not as a condition of subordination to masculine dominance.
