Abstract

The book of the Swedish-Polish duo formed by Martin Widmark and Emilia Dziubak Tyczka w Krainie Szcześcia (Tyczka in the Country of Happiness, 2016) -Polish translation of Marta Dybula, Mamania, 2017- exposes images of the struggle of a child character against some entities created by nature. Likewise, it corroborates the thesis that, in literary education, reading on equal rights of literary and iconic texts, taking into account the dimension of complementary reading and the interpretive capacity of the text, should broaden the horizons of the young receptors of culture, literature and art in the search for new meanings; as well as the mechanisms of perception and their sensitivity when contemplating the arts. The book expresses an ideal symbiosis of thinking through word and image, and reveals peculiar relationships between the verbal and the visual text, which show us that a theme, a problem, an idea, emotions or a locution can be written down and expressed through different artistic languages.
