Abstract

This article proposes to revisit the basis of the imaginaries of Latin-american modernity, as an object of study of the History of Sensibilities. The emotions are emphasized, creating a sense of belonging based on the difference between Latin and Anglo-Saxon identities. Translating codes, exposing passions and scandals; in social life, the dance is crucial for this discussion. In the 1910´s, the nouvelle danses (Tango and Maxixe) were successful in Paris.
