Several tuberculous larynxes should be spared unnecessary biopsies as a result of this paper, and some laryngoscopists may even escape conversion of their tuberculin reactions. We have recently been troubled by a case in which the opposite course occurred, with unfortunate results.A 50-year-old alcoholic man was admitted with far-advanced pulmonary tuberculosis. Because of hoarseness, indirect laryngoscopy was done 6 days after admission. The epiglottis was injected, thickened, and covered with a whitish exudate.
