Larvae of Cephalopina titillator (Clark, 1816) (Diptera: Oestridae) causing nasopharyngeal myiasis of camels: an overview.

Abstract

Abstract In this review article, the authors present an overview on nasopharyngeal myiasis due to the larvae of Cephalopina titillator syn. Cephdopsis titillator which is found in the nasopharynx of camels, especially in tropical and sub-tropical regions in Africa and Asia. Among the parasitic diseases of camel, the larvae of C. titillator adversely affect the health of these dromedaries and cause significant economic losses in many camel-producing countries. The prevalence, geographical distribution and life-cycle of the parasite, clinical signs, pathology and treatment due to this parasitic infection have been discussed in this review.
