Abstract

This paper describes the personal journey of a Track II diplomat to the Soviet Union and attempts to integrate family system concepts of family of origin, Bateson's theory of differences which creates transformation, and one's political belief system. Track II diplomacy which attempts to support people and not government policy is explored and described according to Batesonian logic.
