Abstract
The patient presented at the buccomaxillofacial surgery department, reporting that 8 months earlier he had noticed a slow growing and asymptomatic lump on the face. At the extra-oral physical examination, the increase in volume in the left zygomatic, infraorbital, and paranasal area was observed. The intra-oral examination showed hardened consistency tumor, which was painless to the touch, in the area of the hard palate and maxillary vestibule bottom, with normal-colored mucous membranes. At the tomographic exam, the presence was observed of a mixed image of approximately 8 cm in its largest diameter, with defined boundaries, located in the left middle third of the face. An incisional biopsy was carried out, in which the histopathologic analysis was schwannoma. Therefore, the proposed treatment was the aggressive excision of the lesion. The patient has been in the second postoperative year now, showing good evolution without any sign of recurrence.
