Abstract

This paper deals with vibration problems and a model based vibration control strategy for large-scale structures like long bridge towers, high-rise buildings, huge earthquake testing facilities and space structures. When resource and energy savings expenditure is required, the problem of weight increase has become an inescapable point in the construction of these large-scale structures. In order to reduce weight, flexible structures in becoming lightweight tend to be susceptible to more vibration problems. In this paper, after informing a lumped mass modeling approach form continuous structures, it is introduced that this approach is suitable to control vibrations for large-scale structures
