Large print desktop-publishing by PC for the partially sighted

Abstract

This paper emphasizes the need of large print textbooks for partially sighted readers as a alternative reading medium. Research showed that there are almost no production facilities for large print, too little large print titles, and widely spread photocopying does not fit the perceptual needs of low vision people in all aspects. First experience of a large print project working with regular PC-equipment are stated, and guidelines are given concerning technical equipment, large print layout and typography.
