Abstract

A tutorial look at multimicroprocessor systems with many microprocessors is presented. Various configurations and methods of interconnection are discussed and compared. Both hardware and software considerations are evaluated with computing power as the primary criterion, and reliability and flexibility as secondary criteria. A number of architectures are offered as being useful in particular types of systems, but the software necessary for the effective and efficient use of such systems is presently the limiting factor.
