Abstract

The magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of polycrystalline perovskite La 0.70Ca 0.20Sr 0.10MnO 3 were investigated. Upon the magnetic field changes of 2 T and 6 T, the maximum magnetic entropy changes |Δ S Mmax| of La 0.70Ca 0.20Sr 0.10MnO 3 are 3.6 J·kg −1·K −1 and 6.7 J·kg −1·K −1, respectively, near its Curie temperature T C (308 K). As magnetic field change increased, the magnetic entropy change |Δ S M| increased nonlinearly and increased fastest near T C. In a temperature range of 11 K, |Δ S M| due to a magnetic field change of 2 T exceeds 80% of |Δ S Mmax|.
