Abstract

Vocal cord paralysis can be caused by any intrinsic or extrinsic cause in the course of recurrent laryngeal nerve. There may be some cardiopulmonary causes such as severe pulmonary hypertension, congenital heart diseases (patent ductus arteriosus), mitral valve disorders, atrial myxoma, iatrogenic (radical neck and mediastinal surgery), malignant neoplasms (lung, esophagus, thyroid, metastatic), inflammatory conditions (tuberculosis), and idiopathic. The present case has an aortic aneurysm which resulted in hoarseness of voice without any cardiopulmonary symptomatology of aneurysm. This rare case of aortic aneurysm with hoarseness without any cardiopulmonary signs and symptoms is not well mentioned in literature. So, the case is being presented because of its rarity.
