Abstract
Calculations of polarized parton distributions in the large Nc-limit predict a large antiquark flavor asymmetry Δū(x)−Δd(x) in the nucleon. The framework for the calculations is the chiral quark-soliton model. The predicted large flavor asymmetry in the polarized quark sea does not contradict the recent semi-inclusive DIS data from HERMES. However a Δū(x)−Δd(x) as predicted by the model would have a large effect on the longitudinal double spin asymmetry measurable in the process of Drell–Yan lepton pair production in polarized nucleon–nucleon scattering.
