Abstract

The applications of file transferring are considered to be one of the largest source of data on networks. Users of the Internet or other online services use them commonly. They look up a server with the wanted data or information and use a file transfer protocol to download the file or files. Similarly, users of corporate networks need to transfer files forth and back using a file transfer protocol. This paper discusses how we can combine the StarBurst Multicast File Transfer Protocol (MFTP) with Peer to Peer (P2P) protocol to create a more reliable multicast protocol for transferring large files.
