Abstract

The incorporation of tetravalent Ru (10%) into antiferromagnetic spin structure of LaCrO3 leads to mixed valence states of Cr (Cr2+ and Cr3+). Highly delocalized 4d orbital of Ru induces prominent ferromagnetic (FM) component in antiferromagnetic (AFM) matrix of parent compound. The complex magnetic interaction across the interface of FM and AFM regions gives rise to large exchange bias field (HEB) of about 10kOe. The inverse and normal magnetocaloric effect for magnetic field up to 50kOe coexists in a single material due to multiple magnetic phase transitions with temperature.
