Abstract

The influence of lead and cerium concentration on photoinduced second harmonic generation (SHG) in lead-phosphate glasses has been studied. It has been shown that SHG can be considerably enhanced by increasing of lead and cerium concentration. We also have found that cerium greatly extends the induced nonlinearity lifetime. Physical mechanism of the phenomenon is discussed.
