Large edge-excitation red-shift of the fluorescence of an ethanol solution of 1-(4′-amino-biphenyl-4-yl)-ethanone (ABE)

Abstract

The photophysics of 1-(4′-amino-biphenyl-4-yl)-ethanone (ABE) is reported. The observed large edge-excitation-red-shift of the fluorescence of ABE in a rigid ethanol medium and the red shift of the absorption band as the temperature is lowered are interpreted in terms of a microscopic solvent heterogeneity.
