Abstract
Natural convective heat transfer along a vertical surface is of great importance in many different areas, such as cooling, energy systems, ventilation, room heating and fire safety. In this study, a large eddy simulation (LES) of natural convection along a vertical isothermal surface was carried out to analyze the natural convection boundary layer and the convective heat transfer. The results including the flow velocity profiles and heat transfer rate are analyzed. Comparison is made with experimental data and good agreement is found.
