Abstract

A 56-year-old man was admitted with abdominal pain and elevated amylase and lipase levels of 206 U/L (normal range 30-110 U/L) and 5386 U/L (normal range, 23-300 U/L), respectively. He was found to have cholelithiasis on abdominal US, and a presumptive diagnosis of acute biliary pancreatitis was made. A subsequent CT revealed inflammatory changes in the pancreatic head, a well-defined 21-mm nodular lesion in the uncinate process, and hypovascular mass lesions in the liver (A). EUS with a linear echoendoscope (Olympus Medical Systems Corp, Tokyo, Japan) showed 3 well-delimited pancreatic hypoechoic masses in the uncinate process, head, and tail.
