Abstract

The large Barkhausen effect and Matteucci effect generation mechanism in amorphous magnetostrictive wire were studied. It was found that induced magnetic anisotropy perpendicular to the surface of the as-prepared wire is changed into in-plane induced anisotropy along the direction of the tensile force by twisting the wire. Measurement of variation in Matteucci voltage e' p with twisting revealed that the magnetization vector changed from the irregular directions to a uniform direction along the twisting, indicating that e' p increases greatly with respect to twisting stress.
