Abstract
Abstract Larch is a family of formal specification languages and tools. It consists of several interface specification languages, the Larch Shared Language (LSL), and the Larch Prover (LP). The interface specification languages can be used to document detailed design decisions about program modules, such as procedures and classes. LSL is used by these interface specification languages to describe the abstract values of objects; it can also be used independently to specify logical theories. LP can be used to verify properties stated in LSL; it can also be used independently as a general‐purpose theorem prover. The interface specification languages, LSL, and LP are described in detail.
