Abstract

Three instruments for use in laparoscopy are described: (1) the laparoscopic ligator with open-ended circular tip; (2) the laparoscopic needle which is a forceps with handle lock and flexible curved needle with grooved distal end for attaching suture and clamp under the needle arm; and (3) the laparoscopic tissue forceps with finely corrugated grasping ends and grooved midportion for suture passage. The instruments were designed to control bleeding and have been successfully used in 38 cases to suture and ligate through the laparoscope thus avoiding exploration.
