Abstract
Tubal sterilization (TS) is preferred by approximately 20% of women in the United States. Luteal phase defect (LPD) observed in 3--40% of the female population is associated with decreased progesterone secretion by corpus luteum (CL) which is the majority source of progesterone in women. In surgically sterilized women LPD may be associated with menstrual irregularity dysmenorrhea and exposing unopposed estrogen. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of laparoscopic tubal bipolar coagulation (LTBC) on progesterone production of CL using mid-luteal serum progesterone (MLSP) assay. (excerpt)
