Abstract

AbstractTreatment of choice for prostatic cysts is partial or complete resection, drainage and omentalisation, commonly performed through a caudal laparotomy. The aim of this case report is to describe for the first time the laparoscopic treatment of a prostatic cyst in a dog. Laparoscopy was elected to avoid the morbidity and disadvantages related to a parapreputial laparotomy approach. Partial resection, drainage and omentalisation of a prostatic cyst was performed through four abdominal 5 mm ports situated on midline caudal umbilical, mid left abdominal region and two on the right caudal abdomen. The patient recovered quickly, uneventfully and without recurrence during the 15‐month follow‐up period.
