Abstract

Objective To explore the feasibility and methods of laparoscopic resection for acute cholecystitis. Methods The clinical data on 74 patients with acute cholecystitis who had undergone laparoscopic retrograde cholecystectomy with ultrasonic scalpel during the period of March 2009 to March 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. Results The procedure was successfully performed on 66 patients and it had to be converted to laparotomy in 8 patients. One patient developed postoperative bile leakage.Postoperative bile leakage occurred in 1 case. All the patients were cured and discharged from the hospital. Conclusions Laparoscopic cholecystectomy for acute cholecystitis is feasible and safe, and retrograde resection with ultrasonic scalpel is a better procedure.
