Abstract

ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to evaluate laparoscopic niche repair as a safe and therapeutical option for patients with a residual myometrial thickness (RMT)≤3mm. Study designThis was a retrospective multicenter study of all patients undergoing a laparoscopic niche repair from January 1, 2016 through March 1, 2021. Patient data were obtained from the electronic medical record or provided by the performing surgeon. ResultsA total of 13 patients were included in this study. Median follow-up was 5months. One peroperative complication and no postoperative complications or long-term morbidity were withheld. Median RMT increased from 1.5±1mm to 5.2±1.7mm (mean±SD). Among the patients, 69.2% experienced symptom resolvement. Nine patients had a subsequent successful pregnancy. ConclusionThe laparoscopic niche repair is a safe minimal invasive option for symptomatic patients, able to offer symptom relief. The role for repair in asymptomatic subfertility remains up for debate.
