Abstract

Introduction: Androgen insensitivity syndrome is a form of malepseudohermaphrodite where the phenotype female has malegonads and is genotypically male.Case report: We report a case of complete androgeninsensitivity syndrome in a 22-year-old who underwentlaparoscopic gonadectomy.Discussion: Androgen insensitivity syndrome is the mostcommon cause of male pseudohermaphroditism and third mostcommon cause of primary amenorrhea.Conclusion: Laparoscopy is an effective method in androgeninsensitivity syndrome treatment, mainly due to the increasedrisk of malignant transformation of the testes. Psychosexualneeds should be addressed along with low-dose hormonaltherapy to maximize long-term success.
