Abstract

Background: A body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above represents clinically severe obesity, and warrants operative treatment, if requested to bariatric surgery. The Adjustable Silicone Gastric Banding (Lap-Band®, Bioenterics) and the Swedish Adjustable Gastric Band (SAGB®, Obtech) are recently produced laparoscopic gastric restrictive procedures. The aim of this study was to assess all the possible complications linked to both available gastric bands in a long-term follow-up.
