Abstract

Lanxess has doubled production capacity for derivatives of dimercaptothiadiazole at a plant in Mannheim, Germany. The chemicals are added to lubricants to prevent the leaching of nonferrous metal ions from steel alloys. Thanks to their metal surface bond, they also act as lubricants themselves, Lanxess says. The investment was under $10 million.
