Abstract

Abstract Previous measurements of the binding constants of the lanthanide reagent, Eu(thd)3, with (mainly) open chain ketones showed that moderately strong complexes were formed1,2. We have now extended these studies using nine alicyclic ketones to examine the effects of ring size and carbonyl conjugation. The influence of Europium and Ytterbium fluroinated shift reagents on five ethers and epoxides is also discussed.
