Abstract
The paper treats with problems occuring at long-term adaption of systems embedded in multi rate cascades. Known techniques tested for singlerate identification give no satisfactory results for multirate estimation with high order FIR models. After a short analysis of the FTF algorithm and of the applied multirate model structure a stabilized procedure is introduced which is based on the addition of an extra signal to the model channel inputs. Simulations prove long-term stability of this procedure. But now new problems concerning estimations accuracy in the image band become remarkable. They are supposed to be typical of multirate estimation with high order models.
