Abstract
The authors survey multidisciplinary application (MDA) characteristics and derive a corresponding set of language requirements, focusing on modular system design and multilevel parallelism. After evaluating the MDA computability of several languages and paradigms, they present Opus, the language they designed to support MDA requirements.
