Abstract

The article analyzes lexico-phraseological means of expressing the intensity of the manifestation of emotions and feelings of a person in Ukrainian Literary Discourse by the example of the novel by I. Franko «For the homefire». It appears that greater or lesser degree of psycho-emotional state is represented mainly by lexical and phraseological nominations.In the analyzed novel there are recorded descriptions of strong, ordinary and moderate emotions, the means of expression of which serve as different tokens: one of them expresses the intensity of the seme, while others present the function of words-amplifiers of internal human experiences.The semantics of the intensity of the emotions and feelings in the prose text of the novel is conveyed by phraseological units, as well as comparative turns and sentences that contain in their word structure, also it indicates the degree of manifestation of emotional states. These language features give the statement more figurativeness and expressiveness.The descriptive analysis of the heroes’ emotional states of the novel was contributed to the selection of means of expression according to the intensity of the inner person’s experiences, in particular, lexico-phraseological means of face pigmentation (paleness or redness); the property or trembling of the body parts; verbal reactions, and loss of ability to speak; unconsciousness.
