Abstract

The research is dedicated to the fashionable anthroponyms chosen by the citizens of Burgas for naming their children in the period 1996–2018. It was found that some of the personal names that were considered fashionable in the late twentieth century today are not sufficiently liked and are no longer considered prestigious. As a result of the observations, we concluded that the taste of society is changing rapidly, and in the recent years of this century names associated with Bulgarian history, unisex names, and especially those of foreign origin are coming into fashion. The research established that, as a new and fashionable trend in the Burgas anthroponymicon, non-affixation derivation of patronymics is getting more and more popular.
