Abstract

Everyone has and uses language. Language is an important part of the tool of human beings in the form of a sound symbol system to communicate, so that people can work together and communicate, language is also used as an agreement. In language acquisition there is a process that children use to adjust a series of hypotheses. a child will follow adult language for the first time as the primary key. Psycholinguistic science discusses the interrelationship of language disorders in children with mental retardation, namely how language is acquired by children with mental retardation. Not all humans in this world are normal and experience the same thing in language acquisition. This research will focus on the acquisition of language in Down Syndrome children in the form of utterances or oral utterances spoken by Down Syndrome children. This study aims to describe the language being spoken and to find out how Down Syndrome children acquire language. The method in this study uses qualitative descriptive linguistic methods. The application of theory in this study is using MLU (Mean Length Uttarance) proposed by Roger Brown.
