Abstract

Open image in new window Methodology for landslide risk evaluation and mapping at urban areas is elaborated and suggested. On the basis of preliminary expert estimates, the areas of high landslide risk are in the vicinity of Moscow River and Yauza River, as well as in the areas of contrasting relief along riverbeds of paleorivers in the city center. These areas may be considered as “hot spots” on the risk map. The problem of geological risk management is seen as a series of events leading to risk reduction, including the organization of an integrated environmental monitoring system.
