Abstract
Forests can be affected by wildfire in the form of primary damage (direct burn) and secondary damage (indirect withering). The distribution of the primary and secondary damages can change according to the elapsed time after a wildfire. This paper examined the method to analyze the temporal change of the damaged areas by wildfire. We proposed a time-series cluster analysis to categorize the wildfire-damaged areas in terms of the temporal change characteristics. A case study of the Kangwon fire in March 2022 shows that the damaged areas were divided into several categories, and three out of the nine groups were affected by the secondary damage. The time-series cluster map can provide information about the areas of the severe damage right after the wildfire and the subsequent damage one or more months later.
