Abstract

In this paper, we explore the issues surrounding the decision to land North Sea gas in Norway. Local economic impacts and national and company prestige were the deciding factors. National economic impacts and other landing alternatives were ignored in the decision process, even though Norway could have attained a high level of economic benefits without incurring major costs.
