Abstract

We have evaluated the effective mass m * of an electron liquid from a systematic consideration of diagrams for the Landau interaction function f σσ′ (p, p′). It is found that the mass ratio m * / m is a slowly decreasing function of r s and remains smaller than unity throughout the whole region of metallic densities. A deviation of m * / m from unity is as small as 8% even at the lowest metallic densities.
