Abstract

A database with land use in The Netherlands was created using visual interpretation of Landsat TM imagery. The real land use changes were separated from other changes in the database by storing the real changes in a separate binary mask with code 1 representing change and code 0 representing no-change. The database was validated using a stratified random sample of 394 points. The database has a producer's accuracy of 0.759. However, the current methodologies for validating a database are not perfect and further research is necessary for proper validation.
