Abstract

The current land registration system relies on paper-based methods, prone to fraud, errors, and security vulnerabilities. These shortcomings contribute to prolonged registration processes and an increase in fraudulent activities. To overcome these challenges, this paper proposes a blockchain-based land registration system. Blockchain technology provides an immutable and decentralized ledger, ensuring the security and reliability of land records. By eliminating intermediaries, the blockchain-based registry streamlines land ownership validation, reduces costs, and accelerates registration timelines. This paper explores the potential of blockchain in land registration, focusing on fraud prevention, secure ownership record storage, and facilitation of transfer through cryptographic algorithms and smart contracts. The paper discusses the limitations of traditional land registration systems, including security, transparency, and efficiency issues. It then outlines how blockchain technology addresses these challenges by offering a transparent and secure registration mechanism. Utilizing cryptographic algorithms and smart contracts, blockchain ensures tamper-proof record-keeping and enables swift and transparent ownership transfers.
